Traditionally, the MIT Cheer Squad has been run by students for students as an instructional co-ed Club Sport with minimal financial or training support. Although we have functioned this way in the past and the leadership displayed by students has enabled us to reach many goals, having a coach is tremendous asset that we never had the benefit of before. Recently, the MIT Cheer Squad Captains received an email from a young woman who works on MIT’s Campus and has an impressive career as a cheerleader. She reached out to us in order to figure out what she could do to improve our program. After meeting her and introducing her to our squad, she was impressed by our hard work and how we have managed to function without a Coach thus far. The team was equally impressed with how well she was able to understand and relate to us, and began to support us and help us grow right from the start of practice.
Arianna Vahsen-Crosby is now officially the new Cheerleading Coach for the MIT Cheerleading 2012-2013 Season. She has been involved in cheerleading her entire life prior to becoming a coach. With a background in gymnastics, dance, and coaching, Arianna has over 10 years of cheering experience. She was a cheerleader at Bow High School in Bow, NH and cheered for Mount Ida College in Newton, MA. East Celebrity Elite, formally known as Cheer Gym, was the home of her all-star career.
