Do you think MIT is the best place on earth? Are you an ISawYou celebrity with something to prove? Do your friends excuse themselves from dinner when you talk about just how much you love MIT? Are you the lone fan screaming at MIT games? Do you cheer as loud as you can at Ring Premiere (with or without the alcohol)? Late at night, do you fantasize about Tim the Beaver?
Oh–not you, but your “friend” fits these qualifications? Then nominate them for the Mr. and Ms. School Spirit Competition hosted by the MIT Cheerleading Squad! Let your peers decide in the Institute’s first School Spirit Competition. Let your money do the talking, and vote all week in Lobby 10, or Thursday at the Student Center.
1. You can donate any dollar amount to cast your vote
2. Throwing coins in a candidates bucket will count as a deduction against them
3. At the end of the week, we will announce a Mr., Ms., and Professor School SpiritThank you for your support! All donations will go towards MIT Cheerleading Squad’s 1st-ever Trip to NCA Nationals.

The company, Randall Beans, is starting their new campaign to support and power amateur athletics with their organic, homegrown variety of beans. These grown and made in America beans are fueling athletes across the country in an effort to spread the word about the nutritious effects that beans have on the body. Randall beans is owned by Meredith Keating and has been in operation since 1876. In regards to this “Powered By Beans” movement, Randall Beans is very excited to begin its partnership with MIT Cheerleading as a supporter of amateur athletics and has graciously donated $1,000 to the MIT Cheerleading squad in an effort to become our very first maroon level donor!

On Friday, October 19th, the MIT Cheer Squad helped kick-off the start of the men’s and women’s basketball seasons at MIT alongside several other student groups at MIT. Our squad cheered on our men’s and women’s basketball players during their intra-squad scrimmages and one of our members shocked the crowd by scoring a basket during the dunk contest and winning a prize… Check out our halftime performance video here!
We wish both the men’s and women’s basketball teams good luck on another successful season, and look forward to seeing the fans in the audience! Please find links below for more information on rosters, schedules, and more:

MIT Cheer believes that team bonding is crucial to the continuous success and growth of its program and for its individual members. Throughout the year, our squad holds bonding events to facilitate the close friendships within our community. Today, our squad had its First-Ever Revere Beach Day! As a team, we took a day trip to the beach, drilled techniques, practiced cheers, and spent some time under the sun! We also introduced our Big-Little Program to our new members, which pairs a new member of the squad with an older member in order to promote unity and provide each new cheerleader with a support system for getting used to life away from home at college, the academic rigors of MIT, and life as an MIT Cheerleader. Below is a video compilation of pictures and footage taken from our day at the beach!
Thank you to all those who came out today! We encourage everyone to start having fun with their new bigs/littles & look out for our next bonding event!
MIT Cheer Fall 2012 Try-Outs were held on Sunday, September 9th. Those who came out were asked to drill techniques, learn several new cheers and jumps, and perform a short piece of dance choreography. They were also evaluated during individual interviews with the team Coach and Captains in order to discuss our core team values and culture.
